We're thrilled to announce that our petition has surpassed 10,500 signatures! This remarkable response shows just how much New Yorkers care about the bodega cats that make our city special. Your support has made a tremendous difference in raising awareness about these beloved feline members of our community.

Over the past few weeks, we've had productive conversations with representatives from the Mayor's Office of Animal Welfare and several established rescue organizations to refine our approach. Based on their expert input, we've made some adjustments to our initiative to ensure it best serves both the cats and the communities that care for them.

The core of our mission remains unchanged – supporting the health and wellbeing of NYC's bodega cats while respecting the special bond they share with store owners and neighborhoods. However, we're focusing more directly on creating immediate, practical resources rather than complex certification processes.

Exciting news: In April, we'll be announcing a major collaborative initiative with other bodega cat social media accounts and 501c3's to directly support veterinary care for these cats across all five boroughs. This partnership represents an unprecedented opportunity to make a real difference.
