Write to your MP NOW!

Hi, Thank you for supporting my petition. The Green Party Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis and Other Matters) Amendment Bill will be before the Parliament tomorrow for its first reading and I urge you to write to your MP today in support of it. This bill is essential in ensuring our Medicinal Marijuana Laws are fit for purpose. It is essential that your MP knows your feelings on the matter before they vote. The following is my suggestion as to what you should include in an email to your MP. It is what I have said to my local Electorate MP, the Right Honourable Simon Bridges. MP email addresses are easy to work out they are simply first name.lastname@parliament.govt.nz Subject line " Misuse of Drugs (Medicinal Cannabis and Other Matters) Amendment Bill" Dear..., Drug law reform is going to be one of the dominating issues of this Parliament and one that will most certainly demonstrate its ability to craft law that will best serve the interests of our people. Our current laws are manifestly inadequate and consequently cruel in their impact and need to be changed as a matter of long standing and overdue urgency. It will not serve that interest if our legislative process is starved of sufficient means to determine and implement an outcome that is in the best interests of all. This would be the case should this bill not reach committee stage. This Bill providing (as it does a reasoned, informed and humane approach to the matter) is essential to finding those best solutions and as such needs to be investigated further by this Parliament. I think it is also fair to say that it would make our people quite happy if our Parliamentarians were to show a shared hunger for getting this done and were to vote unanimously for passage of the first reading.
