The right to marry is a basic human right that applies to same-sex couples as well as heterosexual couples. The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and international anti-discrimination laws protect this right.

Furthermore, the United Nations (UN) has repeatedly confirmed that discrimination based on sexual orientation is a violation of human rights. The UN has also supported decriminalizing same-sex relationships and ending violence against LGBTQ+ people. 

However, gay people in Indonesia are banned to marry their partners. The worst thing is that police frequently raid unmarried gay couples at private apartments or private houses.
