Otley Action for Older People is a charity based in Otley. We provide support to the most vulnerable and socially isolated older people in our community, we serve over 950 people. We are well known to the Local Authority and currently have a contract with Leeds City Council (Adult Social Care) to provide social care to older people with disabilities to live independently in the community. We have provided disabled transport for the older people in the community for many years. We rely on the use of a blue disabled parking badge to safely drop and collect people from our venues across the town. Our blue badge was due to expire in February which prompted us to renew it, this renewal application has been refused due to policy changes within the council. Without our parking badge we cannot safely and legally park our bus to allow our disabled passengers to get on and off the bus. Our service users are too frail and disabled to walk more than a few steps, without a parking badge some service users may not be able to attend our groups anymore, this will only isolate them further.
