Launch the Make Schools Great Again movement
The Issue
My daughter was recently involved in a terrifying incident where another classmate threatened to harm her and other children with a box cutter. The school's resolution was dissatisfying and shameful—so much so, that I had to initiate an investigation at the district level. The outcome revealed serious issues: the school staff were not adhering to protocols and best practices. It became evident that staff are overworked, and I've been told by some that absenteeism is leading to a severe lack of funds.
This incident is not isolated. Across our nation, school campuses are facing similar challenges, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of children. The social climate within schools has shifted dangerously, contributing not only to absenteeism but also to an environment where critical issues such as safety are compromised.
By launching the MAKE SCHOOLS GREAT AGAIN movement, we aim to address these problems head-on. Our goals include enhancing the social aspects of school campuses, improving safety protocols so every student and staff member feels secure, and reducing absenteeism by creating a supportive and welcoming environment.
Concrete steps include implementing robust training programs for staff to manage and prevent conflicts and dangerous situations more effectively. Additionally, advocating for increased funding directed towards hiring more qualified personnel can help alleviate the overwhelming workload of current staff members. We want to establish substantial safe zones on campuses and ensure that the policy and response protocols are up to date and strictly adhered to.
It's crucial that we unite as parents, educators, and community members to demand the changes our schools desperately need. Our children deserve a safe and nurturing environment to learn and grow, and it is our responsibility to ensure that.
