The Spanish government, under the leadership of President Pedro Sánchez, has seemingly turned a blind eye to these concerns. Days have passed, but action remains absent. Many of us, who call Ceuta and Spain our home, find ourselves questioning the security measures that should safeguard our borders and protect both our rights and those of individuals seeking asylum.

President Sánchez's handling—or lack thereof—has left our communities in a precarious state. Ceuta's unique position as a gateway between two continents demands a robust and responsive approach that balances compassion with order. We are therefore calling upon the European Union to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the events of July 26th. This investigation should meticulously examine the actions—or inactions—of the Spanish leadership in response to the incident. Moreover, the investigation should explore broader strategies to fortify Spain's border management, including potential EU assistance or guidelines. Our aim is not to vilify, but to cultivate a system that honors humane treatment while maintaining the sanctity of our borders.
