#LARRYSTAYSINMOORE - Mini Pig Ordinance Change for Moore, OK.
The Issue
On December 29th, Larry the Pig became a Moore Celebrity after video surfaced of him being picked up by animal control. His mom received a written warning "If swine isn't removed in two weeks citations will be issued. 4-105 Keeping of Swing (a)(3) pig must be under 75lbs under 20" in height."
Before getting Larry in 2014, his mom Steffany did her due diligence of checking with City Hall on ordinances and requirements. At that time, the only requirements were 1) vet paperwork stating that he is a miniature potbelly and 2) official certification. Both were obtained and provided as well as keeping in touch with animal control over the years.
Larry is neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. He has his own fenced in yard, lean-to, insulated house with a heater and solar powered air conditioner, blankies and a swimming pool for hot sunny days. Larry is very well taken care and loved by his family. He also has a 6-year-old boy at home with Autism that would be devastated if Larry was no longer around.
Please sign this petition to show support not only for Larry but to help keep all current and future mini pigs in Moore with their families.
City Council Meeting will be January 3rd at 6:30pm. It will be requested that the City of Moore change the ordinance to reflect the official size guidelines established by the American Mini Pig Association.
