Earlier this month the London Evening Standard published a great article on how housing co-ops are cheaper, more efficient, more democratic and encourage a greater sense of community than many other forms of housing tenure. We really believe in housing co-ops and it breaks our hearts that we are struggling to get the political support we need not just to be able to stay in our own homes; but to provide the same opportunities to other people in our area who are desperate to have a decent and affordable roof over their heads. In the face of the worst housing crisis in the UK since the Blitz, housing co-operatives need to be seen as a part of the solution (not a part of problem) by Lambeth's Labour councillors.
