As HGV drivers the facilities on the roads are shocking. Parking on an average cost £30+ per night. With a high possibility of your truck being slashed or broken into. 

As a HGV driver my preferred parking spot by employers is on a services ie Welcome break or MOTO. These services are equipped with poor facilities, poor choices of places to eat. Fast food chains such as KFC, McDonald’s and Burger King. The food from these places are all just “warm”. There are zero facilities in these services to help with fitness. 

As a HGV driver hours are pretty long, tiresome and can be challenging. But also sitting in your truck all day could play a big part in mental health, being alone all day could factor over thinking which could lead to depression.

I think the government needs to take action and invest into improving facilities with services being fitted with gym equipment, pretty similar to the facilities that were put into parks and schools. Also improve security on these services or the services providing parking to be held accountable for any theft with a thorough investigation.
