Dear fellow campaigners and supporters,
I like to inform you, that this Petition was accepted by the EU Petitions Committee, but in the same sentence, the Petition was closed because an Answer of the Commission.
The Background is, like every time if it is an animal Welfare issue, the note to the Article 13 of the TFEU.
Articolo 13
They don’t use this Article to protect the named animals. So animals that are not mentioned here are certainly not protected, like Bulls for Bullfighting, Pets, Strays, Breeding Animals, Wild Animals etc. etc.
Howsoever, I answered the Letter of the Petitions Committee. Here you can download the letter from the Committee and my answer. (Please use an online translator like Google translator or similar).

A second important point is that the EU Commission starts a survey to improve animal welfare in the EU.
Whether this is meant seriously or just a farce remains to be seen. But it is definitely an opportunity for us.
It would be nice if you would take part of this and give your voice for a better animal protection in the EU.
It doesn't need a long time, you have to register yourself with an email Address and a password and then you can start.
You should read the questions carefully, I am of the opinion that they are, consciously or by chance, sometimes not that clear.
At the end there is still a field where you can fill in what is important outside of the check questions. I think this definitely includes the amendment to Article 13 TFEU, for a more extensive animal welfare and a ban on bullfighting.
Here you can take part:
Ok, that’s it for now. I hope a lot of you take part at the EU survey. Stay healthy all of you.
Regards from Germany
Achim Richter
