Dear Big Bear Community and beyond,

Were you aware that the dogs I was so worried about being at Apple Valley Animal Shelter during the Line Fire did not all make it back to Big Bear per their agreement to return our dogs. Appaloosa died while in their care. They were using a catch pole on Appaloosa and ended up breaking the Appalossa's legs while using the catch pole. How violent and unaware do you have to be to cause the death of a dog using a catch pole where you BREAK THE DOG'S LEGS!!!

This dog was our shelter dog in Big Bear that was transferred even though the shelter was NOT in an evacuation zone. They killed Appaloosa when the dog's did not even need to be transferred. when I called the management about why they transferred the dogs the representative back then said to me, "what do you want us to do? Let the dogs burn alive." I finally have a response to your nasty sarcasm, "no I was just afraid that when you transport our dogs, you're gonna break their legs using a catchpole."

I want to know who's gonna be held accountable for this killing?

Hi Ted –

Thank you for taking my call, and for the time spent working to coordinate the safe transport of the animals relocated from the animal shelter. Per our conversation, the City has confirmed with the San Bernardino County Animal Services division that the animals were relocated to ensure their safety during this incident and the resulting state of emergency, and that they will be returned to the animal shelter here in Big Bear when it is safe/responsible to do so.
