Staff said he was basically vicious - they say that about most of the animals to justify killing them...to reach that fake goal of 90% save rate - all while leaving thousands in the street to fend for themselves. You think the dogs have it bad...no one is more hated by the shelters than cats. But they are easily hidden. Usually around 6,000 kittens are killed a year, per Controller Galperin’s report. Anyway...Trojan was also wearing TWO collars...one was from when he was a puppy! It was dug into his neck, causing injury. Staff never noticed. They never walked him, either. But that’s typical. Most dogs never get walked - it’s literally NO ONE’S job. You know why? Because all they do is house animals in concrete cells/cages. If they don’t get adopted they get killed. That’s it. That’s what you pay $46 million a year for...

You pay $46 million a year for Animal Services...Barnette was making $314,000 a year. Do u know anyone (besides the millionaires at Best Friends society and their private jets) that make that kinda money working with animals?
And don’t forget the 25,000 less animals they had in the shelters last year.
(They’re not picking up strays #illegal)
And don’t forget the misappropriation of donations. ($millions$)
And don’t forget since 2011, they used sterilization funds on unrelated salaries and benefits. (Council had to pass an ordinance to stop it after 9yrs)
And don’t forget, they sell hundreds of breeder licenses w/ zero oversight and NO home checks.
The City claims they ONLY kill pets that are irremediably suffering or too aggressive to adopt to the public...yet, every week people are posting adoptable animals about to be killed. Their kill lists aka alert lists https://www.laanimalservices.com/red-alert-dogs/ (not all) are on their website. There are MANY posts and videos about animals they’ve killed...and no one is stopping them??
And don’t forget, they fire every whistle blower and the Mayor / City Council do nothing to protect them (except Paul Koretz’ office, whose staff enjoys smearing whistle blowers - right, @davidhersch? I read ur internal emails).
