#LOVEATFIRSTSIGHT APPROVED BY LOS ANGELES COUNCIL WOMAN #JANICEHAHN HAS FAILED THOUSANDS OF DOGS AND CATS IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. HERE IS JUST ONE MORE OF HER FAILURES.

Louie, a merely 10 month old pup who HAD A RESCUE COMING FOR HIM, was killed by West Valley shelter today. He was just a baby. The rescue memo was entered in the shelter system at 11:43am. But 15 minutes after, Louie was given the lethal injection and killed.

According to LA Animal Services "Pets appearing on the Red Alert will be euthanized after 48 hours if there are no other options available.".
So, what the f%#k happened? Louie had options but he got killed. Well, the short answer is, West Valley wanted Louie dead. When Louie's Red Alert reached the 48th hour mark, they had him in the Euthanasia room with a needle in his arm. West Valley had been planning his killing for days. They went as far as seeking PRE-authorization to kill Louie from their Assistant General Manager Annette Ramirez, who clearly is not qualified to be in that position. She simply rubber stamped and pre-authorized the kill, no questions asked. She then noted "This dog has been authorized for Euthanasia. He is to be placed on the red alert for a minimum of 48 hours and if a rescue commitment is not received, Euthanasia may proceed." That was on 12/1, when Louie was Red Alerted. But why? Why pre-authorize?

The shelter knows how to move fast when they want to, because when it comes to killing animals, they are on it! They rushed the process so quickly that they didn't bother to check the system once more to make sure that there is no rescue interest before killing Louie. Or, maybe they saw it and they just didn't care. After all, there are no consequences to what they do. Who is holding LA Animal Services accountable when they don't follow the law?

What was the rush to kill Louie? West Valley shelter isn’t full. Louie was showing improvement and listened to corrections. He demonstrated that he's capable of learning new behaviors. He had a rescue coming for him. Killing Louie was not an oversight or mistake, it was through deliberate planning. It's callousness, apathy and indifference. LA Animal Services is publicly funded by our tax dollars, we need to demand accountability.
