If you've never heard of Nathan Winograd, you have to follow him on Facebook. In my opinion, he is the number one animal advocate/activist on the planet for dog and cats in animal pounds. Though I do not agree with 100% of his formulas, I do stand behind his effort to save as many of the animals as we can.

It was just brought to my attention that on September 2, our movement to OPEN THE SHELTERS reached Nathan's desk. He recently shared a post about his concerns on the management of our Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facilities. He said in his post, "While shelter management claims that this “appointment only” policy will increase lifesaving (somehow) and reduce stress for animals by limiting activity and noise levels, this is misleading. For animals, visitors mean stimulation, walks, getting played with, and finding homes. Sitting in a cage without human interaction does not reduce stress; it increases it. At the same time, it reduces their chance of being adopted and, in a regressive shelter, this is often a death sentence."

To those of you who read my post at the animal pounds, we are not going away. I'm suggesting you Open The Shelters Now. You are on the wrong side of justice here. Eventually we'll reach someone you care about or we will reach enough voters that we'll put someone in power that can Open The Shelters for us. I have no issue with running for office and putting a period on this request once and for all. More animal advocates need to be in office. Mark my word...you WILL OPEN THE SHELTERS. It's easier for all of us if you just open them NOW. And to whoever is behind closely the gates, we will eventually learn who is behind this. When we do, we will work to make sure you are defunded and exposed for the cruel inhumane people/person you are.
