Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin spared Gregory Wilson who, in 1987, kidnapped, robbed, raped, and murdered my aunt, Debbie Pooley.  Bevin admitted that Wilson was involved in a “brutal murder,” but commuted his sentence to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

He was a teenager when convicted of two counts of rape, spent more than 12 years in prison, and was on parole when he raped two more women. An attorney who prosecuted Wilson for Debbie’s murder thinks that he became concerned that the women he was raping were talking to authorities so he decided to kill the next women he attacked. Wilson was the only suspect in the 1987 murder of Peggy Goehr and it is believed that he killed Peggy just 1-2 days before Debbie. While in custody for Debbie’s murder, he plead guilty to 13 counts of rape. Wilson has been on death row since 1988, has lost every appeal, but now has a chance of parole?!
