Euthanizing stray pets in Iceland: extend impoundment time from 48hrs to 2 weeks.

Euthanizing stray pets in Iceland: extend impoundment time from 48hrs to 2 weeks.
The Issue
We are lobbying for a sympathetic, comprehensive and transparent code of conduct from the city hall Borgarbyggð about the euthanization procedures of household pets, from the moment they are impounded until they are euthanized.
We are requesting an extension of the 48 hour impoundment period to 2 weeks for all pets (chipped or not) . We are requesting that all impounded pets be posted to the City Halls Borgarbyggð web page and on the City Halls Borgarnes Face book page. We are requesting that the veterinarian would be required to consult this page to confirm that it is the same cat on the page and that the impoundment period has indeed expired before administering euthanasia. We are requesting that should a city employee requests to override an existing regulation where the consequences are irreversible the situation garners first hand examination by an authority.
Other countries have a comprehensive webpages on their government sites regarding laws and regulations. Generally they even post the acts and bylaws. Here’s an example of how another island country handles there impounded pets.

Establishing regulations and a public page with protocol is humanitarian and creates trust within the community.
