Well, this is some pretty terrible news for those of us hoping to see NIOH on PC any time soon, as Sony Interactive Entertainment have secured the publishing rights for US, EU and Asia, Koei Tecmo are still publishing in Japan. This could mean that a PC release is complete off the cards now, like Bloodborne, but right now we don't know, it entirely depends on what sort of deal Sony has made with Koei and Team Ninja. This does however make a PC release less likely.
Does this mean a PC release is completely impossible?
No, it does not. No Man's Sky was published by Sony on the PS4, whereas Hello Games self-published on Steam, as they had a marketing deal while Hello Games owned the rights to their IP. So Sony publishing a game does not rule out a PC release, and Sony themselves have already published titles on Steam; Helldivers and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. But again, we don't know yet what sort of deal Sony and Koei/Team Ninja have, whether or not Sony now have a right to the IP or if it stays with Koei, whether it's a timed exclusive or not.
I won't speculate on the likelihood of a PC port now, suffice to say that it could be a long way off now, if it happens at all. It's entirely down to what sort of deal they have with Sony, so only time will tell. But thank you so much to everyone who's supported the petition so far,
Casey
