I am a long time resident of Kirrawee with serious concerns about the traffic crisis on Oak Road.

Specifically, the significant traffic build-up that often occurs northbound in Oak Rd Kirrawee, stretching across the train bridge and into President Avenue.

This situation is not only troublesome but also dangerous, as the constant traffic congestion forces motorists into risky manoeuvres, like queuing across intersections and pedestrian crossings. 

The past road work, paid for as a condition of the Woolworths Development Application (DA), at the intersection of Oak Rd and President Ave only appears to have eased the situation temporarily without addressing the root cause of our persisting traffic issues. Unfortunately, it feels like we have been forgotten by our local council in this matter.

SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE!

Suggestions include: 

• remove some parking spots blocking traffic flow on Oak Rd northbound.
• traffic light phase change at Oak Rd and Flora St to increase traffic flow through Oak Rd.

The need to address this issue has never been more urgent. With the community growing and more businesses popping up, traffic is only going to get worse.

We implore the local council to step up and prioritise the evaluation of the traffic conditions on Oak Road and adopt effective and long-lasting changes, so that the residents of Kirrawee can commute safely and without constant delays. We deserve a community where quality of life is a priority, and this includes the simple right to travel through our town without endless inconvenience and potential danger.
