RIGHT vs Wrong! Sometimes it is that simple!
The right vs wrong aspect of this is something that can be used as we talk to people. Many issues may be considered controversial and their relative merits be debated. Some people think we must fight wars, some people think our medical system is fine and there should not be universal health care, some people oppose free undergrad education to anyone who maintains a certain grade point, etc. Abortion is controversial too many. Sexual abuse of children is NOT CONTROVERSIAL. There should be no break in the discussion along political party lines! Sexual abusers do not ask what party a kids parents belong to! It is not about Christianity nor other religions nor atheism. Fighting sexual abuse of children should not be un-Christian! To the contrary if the words of Christ are read concerning children. The fact that what we are standing for is literally a simple RIGHT vs WRONG can be underscored in all letters, in posts, in signs. No one should stand in the middle...it is rather impossible to imagine, holding that, "While sexually abusing children is definitely wrong there are some cases where..... or there are some people of prominence who do many good things but occasionally predate on children, so....." Even the predators would not say in public that what they do is RIGHT. Or sometimes RIGHT.
This morning we have 1111 signatures. Tomorrow we could have 2222 signatures if each one of us simply got though to one person and told them about the petition, its point and asked them to sign. "Hey, btw, there is a petition going around that is addressed to ending the huge problem in Kirkwood of sexual abuse of children by teachers and staff. More than a thousand have signed already and we need more signatures. Would you mind reading it and signing? Then give them the simple link. I can not even remember the link I designed to be simple(!) so I have it on my word doc to copy and paste wherever. If I was out and about more I would run off 100 cheap business cards with just the link in the center and have ten on me at all times to pass out. One person a day per people who have signed would see 2222, 4444, 8888. You get the drift.
