The Right Thing

We will pass 1100 signatures today thanks to each of you! As more attention is made known of what is apparently the largest example of sustained systematic sexual abuse of children in K-12 district, these numbers will easily double and triple.
There are many controversial issues that face any community or nation. Some believe we must have war. Many oppose war. Many are in the middle claiming some wars are justified or necessary, others are not. Universal health care, free undergraduate education, serious outlays to prepare for and lessen the effects of climate change, whether to continue to rely on oil, all have proponents, opponents and those in the middle ground who see some benefit in both views and take a centrist position.
Sexual abuse of children by teachers or staff in their schools is NOT an issue that has proponents. Not even perpetrators of sexual abuse advocate for some right to abuse children,,,in fact they are often in front of the cameras, so to speak, when it comes to underscoring their great love for children and the education of children. No one, beyond these twisted abusers and those who protect them, believes that they have a RIGHT to pursue and molest or abuse or rape girls or boys.
The question then becomes, relative to whether or not one decides to protect children, Not if it is right or wrong to do so but rather IF WE WILL DO WHAT WE KNOW TO BE RIGHT?
WE KNOW, that thousands of girls and many boys should never have suffered abuse and years of trauma that followed!
WE KNOW, that those guilty of sexually abusing children should be held accountable! WE KNOW that any known sexual predator (and 30 names at least ARE KNOWN) should be fired immediately if they are still working in the system and that their records should follow them to their next job so they cant abuse more children.
WE KNOW that the survivors should be apologized to! OF COURSE! And this is the least that should be done for survivors! WE KNOW this!
WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO? 1100 hundred people, each of you, have done the right thing in signing this petition. This action, at least, voices your opinion as to what is right to do relative to this epic systemic abuse. There are many things you can do additionally. Actions are being planned for simple peaceful demonstrations. Pamphlets can be handed out at public events. Kirkwood High School Alumni/Community Talk
The District is playing in the middle ground, unwilling to hold perpetrators accountable, unwilling to assure the community that all perpetrators have been removed from the schools, satisfied with their own actions regarding this matter, doing nothing for survivors, etc. We will change their minds.
Keep doing the right thing. HOLD TO TRUTH. Act in peace but with determination to save the children from sexual predation!
