Perpetual Progress

Having passed that psychological milestone of 1000 signatures, there are many things worthy of noting beyond the petition. The movement to protect children from sexual abuse in Kirkwood, along with picking up obvious supporters has found attention in the local press, in the Webster Kirkwood Times that so many read there, on TV at your CBS affiliate, in interviews, articles and letters to the editor. Additionally soon there will be actions of various kinds for people to join in physically, peaceful demonstrations, presence at public events, signage, etc. All of this to say that as the petition grows you should be aware that many other avenues are being pursued simultaneously to get this important word out regarding the history of abuse at KHS but also the need for transparency, accountability, for answers to critical questions and, in some cases, if perpetrators are working in the district, dismissals or firing.
Much happens behind the scenes of normal view, in posts to student groups of the petition, allowing them the opportunity to know that more and more parents are getting on board with assistance and are not satisfied with what the district has done so far, messages to numerous human rights and children's rights organizations, emails to people in government, national as well as local, story ideas to national publications, etc.
Change will occur, no perpetrators who have hurt children will be working in the future in KHS schools no matter who they are or how high their positions, the children will be safe in the future, and policies will be followed relative to Title !X, mandated reporting, etc.
Of course all of this requires solidarity, your continued support, efforts to get even one other person to sign the petition per month, etc. The topic is not going away, we assure you of that, so all have the chance to discuss this with friends and community members, calmly making your positions known while listening to those of others.
