Meeting resistance affirms success!

With 578 signatures as of this morning, we are well on the way to the first 1000! There is most definitely power in numbers!
This past weekend on the alumni site we met with much resistance. This is to be expected with any issue of this emotional impact. Deep chords are struck within people when matters as grave as sexual abuse of children are raised, let alone sexual abuse of thousands of children by teachers at their school. Such ugly matters are not easy to overlook.
Persons, once evidence or reports come in and are substantiated by professionals, must decide how to respond to such despicable behavior. Unfortunately, but predictably, many respond by attacking the messengers, the truth tellers, the survivors, whistle-blowers, etc. who bring the matters to their consciousness. Victim blaming, victim shaming and beating truth tellers has countless precedents in human history. 
You are among those who understand that survivors and truth tellers are not the CAUSE of the problem in Kirkwood or in many schools regarding sexual abuse of children. You see through this lie an misdirection. You see that the resistance is both misguided, echoes the decades long cover up, and is a sign that our message is getting through, that we are succeeding. 
Let's all see I we can get one more signature today from someone. It may take contacting ten or twenty to get one. But doubling our number of signatures will get more media attention. Proof of the interest media has in signatures is an NBC affiliate in St. Louis that will be airing, Oct 2 (tentative date) an interview with two survivors and myself about this petition!  If you and I double this number today by contacting ten or twenty that we have not yet reached, explaining briefly why we support this effort and asking that they consider, sign and share.... the impact of the televised program will be even greater and lead more to sign.
