The controversial events that led to the Thandi Partnership pulling down the original pub on castle hill were highly controversial.
The council did not act accordingly because they really have been backing and an endorsement to the Thandi bothers the entire time. That new development is part of the larger scale wider plan for Huddersfield that the people behind the council have been pushing for their "vision"
A vision that the public have not been happy about regardless of party affiliations. It has been about council executives and partnerships. Not about the citizens. It has been about celebrities and University contacts, the Football clubs and Managers.
Builders and Highway men in high places.
That is why the entire matter has been a disaster.
Here, we have a story in the BBC where a listed pub has been demolished in North Yorkshire and it was immediately made to be put back up again. This is what should have happened to the original castle hill pub.
People who break planning applications should relinquish their right to continue. Fines are not enough. There are elements of strategic planning involved as well by the Council. A lot more of the truth is being hidden from us
And as we speak more and more old cottages original buildings are being lost from Huddersfield. Because they are no value to the council or their builders because nothing is worth anything unless they have make money from it. They have to care or desire for a heritage and tradition that other counties are very proud of.
Old Cottages at longroyd Huddersfield we find out are now scheduled to be pulled down. Despite my own efforts to beg the council over the last 10 years not to allow any more original buildings and cottages to be lost.. like ones at Saville Estate Overthorpe road, Lilly Lane upper hopton, classic iconic Barn and others i noted did not display planning notices. So nobody was warned in time to object.
