West Yorkshire is very sparse in hillforts unlike Wales and the South, Scotland and Ireland. I believe the unique landscape. Beauty and resources of our area made for a more symbolic, beautiful and magnificent hidden gem in the heart of the island. Not to say that other sites are not as beautiful or lovely. Something different was centred here

There are also a lot of coastal sites and access from sea by orbit of the coast is a major route.
