Irish Government add Hillforts and Raiths to Areas for nature

The Irish department for agriculture has decided to add Ring forts, Hillforts, Rath's to "Area's for nature" CAP this is a major U turn in land governance orders for Irish and world heritage sites

I have spoken to a few people in the groups and they are indicating that the sites will not be now classed as a structure or castle but literally can be designated Nature areas. I think this will protect from building and development. The Farmers may be able to get subsidy as land owners also for holding protected nature areas. This is exactly what we need here in our area to protect from building expansion of schools and cafes right by ancient sites . Where other villages have land that is not within heritage zones.
