Huddersfield millionaires birthplace the barbers shop and cottage in Berry Brow. This is where Mr Copley was born, at an early age he emigrated to Australia and by shrewd speculation made a vast fortune. When he came back to England he bought the Ramsden Estate for 1.3 million pounds in 1919 which comprised most of Huddersfield. In 1920 he offered it to Huddersfield Corporation which then bought it for the same price 1.3 million.

Is this the Rugby ball pass? that paved the way for Imperial chemical industries? A gift to His Majesty King George? after all there appears to be no additional profit from the transaction to Copley. Is this how Dun Elm at Meltham was awarded with a name change to Cop hill?

Kirklees council.gov.uk now have direct control over the area. Did this mark the end for the "Elmet" mound/Hillfort ? The Brig house's eventual massacre?
