15 hours after the petition made, we are reaching over 19000!
There was an article on NY Times : Kim Kardashian West and the Kimono Controversy.
So far, it seems like Kim has no intent to change the name.
We need a specialist to cancel this trademark. Any lawyer?
Yesterday I was talking to a French friend and I realised that we had not protected the word. For example, in France, you can call Champagne when it's made in a specific way in Champagne region. So we have no right to name a beer brand "champagne". We don't have that for Kimono. Maybe we were so inoccent.
But then how would you think that someone actually takes the name?
The word "Kimono" literally refers "Closthing" in Japanese culutre and its history dates back to 15th Century.
In the picture you see me in blue kimono, my grand mother's summer kimono. I was very proud to wear this on my diploma ceremony day for Institut Français de la Mode, well known for one of the world's bests in Master for Fashion.
One of the beauties of Kimono is that it can easily fit 3 different sizes as we adjust on the waist. Kimono can pass 3 generations at least.
It's beyond "Fast" or "Slow" fashion, it kept it's own form because of it.
"Kimono" can not be an underwear that matchs one size only and can be worn 1 season or maybe upto 1 year.
We continue with this petition to protect our culture.
