With my recent open letter to Mr. Zachary Candelario, General Manager at Kijiji Canada, I hoped that he would acknowledge the increasing popularity of the petition, the growing list of companies disassociating themselves from the sale of pets on Kijiji Canada, the testimonials of disappointed Kijiji users, and the voicemails from supporters, or that he would admit the lack of control over the content of its site. I hoped that, as the General Manager of Canada’s largest classifieds site, he would warn Canadian consumers about the sale of animals on online classifieds sites. That he would care about animal welfare and be responsible enough to protect its users. Mr. Candelario did not even respond. Over the year, I sent several emails to Mr. Candelario, but also to Mrs. Richelle Parham, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for eBay North America (eBay owns Kijiji), to give her an update of our petition developments and reiterate our demand to prohibit the sale of animals on Kijiji Canada. Last month, the CMO Club, a membership organization exclusively for senior marketing executives, announced the 2014 nominees for the annual CMO Club Awards. Mrs. Parham is nominated for the CMO Leadership Award. Would you please help me tell Mrs. Parham, as the leader of classifieds site in Canada, to set an example and ban pet sales on Kijiji, sending the clear message that animals should not be sold as just another item via classified ads?
