Did you know that as of 2023, nearly 60% of Malaysian workers earn below the living wage? In Kuala Lumpur alone, 27% of workers are unable to meet even the basic costs of living. If this is happening in our capital, how much more difficult is it in other states where wages are even lower?

We are calling on the government to raise the minimum wage to RM2,000 per month. For too long, many of us have struggled to make ends meet, barely affording essentials like housing, food, and healthcare. It’s a stressful and unsustainable way to live, holding back individuals and families from building a secure future.

Raising the minimum wage would change this. It would bring financial stability, allowing us to focus on what truly matters, time with family, planning for our futures, and enjoying life without constant financial stress. More money in our pockets means more support for local businesses, boosting Malaysia’s economy and building vibrant communities across the country.

Countries like Australia and New Zealand have shown us that this is possible. By raising their minimum wages, they have improved living standards and strengthened their economies. We believe Malaysia can achieve the same. Research from the International Labour Organization has shown that higher wages not only boost productivity but also increase job satisfaction and loyalty among workers, benefiting everyone.
