HFM Article Calls For Speed Cameras On A6 Bypass

Police caught a driver speeding at 132mph on the A6 bypass between Great Glen and Kibworth yesterday – the highest speed ever recorded on the stretch of road dubbed ‘a racetrack’ by officers.
The driver of the VW Golf is now set to appear in Court after being reported by officers.
Another car was clocked at 116mph, and a number of other drivers were stopped for driving at over 100mph, during the speed enforcement operation.
It has led to renewed calls for permanent speed cameras to be installed on that stretch of the A6.
Police, who also carried out speed checks on the B6047 around the Langtons, say the speeds some drivers are doing is extremely irresponsible and dangerous.
They have pledged to carry out more checks on the A6.
