Hello Josh signers, Phill Wills here.
I apologise for not updating you all sooner, but I'm ready to now share the wonderful news that Josh is home!
He moved back to his home county of Cornwall in November. He is in a specially adapted home with a new team of carers, just 15 miles away from my home.
I wanted to wait to update you, to give Josh time to settle in and for us all to adapt to the huge change in all of our lives.
So this Christmas, a time for sharing, I felt it right to share with you. Each and everyone of you who signed Josh's petition and helped to make Josh's future brighter.
The support also from Mencap, The Challenging Behaviour Foundation, Respond and the media were also instrumental in bringing Josh home. I want to also thank the Council in Cornwall and the KCCG for listening and working with us and Josh's new provider to give him the best possible care and future.
His carers in Birmingham will miss him, and he will miss them. Thank you to them and all carers for their love and dedication.
I will post updates to you on here occasionally and also on Josh's Facebook page (The one and only Joshua Wills: https://www.facebook.com/groups/joshuawills/) and Twitter (@JoshWillsWorld).
It's been a journey, you have all been with us on it, it was hard, and emotional, but I would do it all again if I had to.
There are still lots of other families out there going through the same thing, and it must change. Families must be listened to and consulted. Listen to the parents and you will hear their children's voices. To those parents, don't give up, don't lose hope. We will help you.
Thank you again, and I look forward to hearing from you, and keeping you a part of our Josh's life.
Phill
