This year a decision was made to not honor the finalist more so than the rest of the medalists. In my lifetime I have seen the state finals go from the most exciting sporting event in the state, to just an average wrestling tournament. 

I would like to see the state finals be revamped into all that it should be. These kids have put in countless hours and worked harder than anyone else to get to the state finals. They deserve that respect. 

The list of things I would like to see reintroduced in the 2017 finals includes but is not limited to:

1. A single mat on the floor, with only the championship matches taking place

2. A spotlight on that mat (at least before the match starts)

3. A face off under the spotlight for all of the finalists 

4. One match delay before award presentation

If you believe it is wrong to not show more honor to those that have worked the hardest to make it to the championship match, I urge you to sign this petition.
