Save the Statue of Sir Hans Sloane

The Issue

Sir Hans Sloane generously bequeathed his extensive collections to the people of this country, thus laying the foundations for the British Museum, the British Library and the Natural History Museum. These institutions are amongst the leading cultural institutions in Britain and the world, largely because of him.

His name is inextricably linked with Chelsea, the manor of which he owned, and it is only right that he be remembered there in Duke of York Square.

We must save his statue from the historically illiterate who are attacking our history, our heritage and our culture. History is not ours to erase or rewrite. We are merely custodians of it.
