Great to see that two years after Storm Arwen work is finally underway to carry out a full “hands on” assessment of Rough Crag. Specialist contractors are using a platform and rope access techniques to get the first proper up close look at the crag to assess whether the road beneath the crag is at risk from any loose debris. And if so, to work out what work is needed to clear any such debris, so the road can then be reopened. As part of this work a LIDAR survey has also been undertaken and the remaining fallen trees that were blocking the road have been removed. This is all encouraging to see and we are hopeful that the road will be reopened in 2024.
