Keep the Veterans Memorial in Las Vegas

The Issue

As a U. S. Marine combat wounded veteran with 2 Purple Hearts, I am deeply concerned about the proposed move of our Veterans Memorial from its current location in Las Vegas to the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City. The memorial is not just for us veterans; it serves as a public display that reminds everyone of the sacrifices made by brave men and women who served our country. If we move it to Boulder City, its visibility will be significantly reduced, limiting its impact only to those visiting their deceased loved ones.

Las Vegas is home to over 150,000 veterans (U.S. Census Bureau), many of whom visit this memorial regularly as part of their healing process or simply as an act of remembrance. Moving this memorial would mean taking away an important part of their lives and community.

Moreover, having the memorial in a highly visible place like Las Vegas helps educate our younger generations about the importance and value of service. It's not just a piece of stone; it's a symbol that carries stories worth telling and lessons worth learning.

We urge our state officials to reconsider this decision and keep the Veterans Memorial where it belongs - here in Las Vegas - so that everyone can continue seeing and appreciating what it stands for. Please sign this petition if you agree with us.
