The Issue

The credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize affects all of us.  Activists, diplomats, citizens, and communities across the world who rely on it to recognize real achievements in peace and human dignity. If this award is diluted to include figures like Donald J. Trump, who has actively inflamed violence, undermined democratic norms, and publicly supported ethnic cleansing, it sends a global message that propaganda is equal to diplomacy, and that self-promotion trumps accountability.

If the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Donald Trump, it will forever damage the prize’s integrity. The consequences reach far beyond symbolism: it would reward a leader who incited a violent insurrection against his own government, failed to achieve any measurable peace abroad, actively promoted division and hate, and publicly supported forced population removal in Gaza. This would lower the bar for future recipients, disincentivize real diplomatic effort, and normalize authoritarian behavior under the guise of “strong leadership.”

Now is the time to speak up, before the nomination process advances further or the Nobel Committee considers his candidacy seriously. Public pressure matters: by standing together, we can remind the Committee and the world that the Nobel Peace Prize must remain rooted in real, demonstrated progress toward peace, not empty declarations or politically motivated spectacle. Sign this petition to reject the normalization of violence and protect the meaning of the Nobel Peace Prize.
