Keep the Foley Municipal Pool open!

Keep the Foley Municipal Pool open!
The Issue
The Tuesday May 2nd edition of the Benton County News featured an article reporting that newly elected member of Foley city council, Deb Mathiowetz, is considering closing the Foley Municipal Pool, due to the fact that it is no longer producing revenue and costing tax payers. So do sidewalks, parks, and street lamps! And they make the town nice!
Without the pool, what does this city have to offer for outdoor recreation? Or any recreation for that matter. We have lost our bowling alley and movie theater, and so many restaurants over the years. What is there to do in Foley? It was suggested in the article to replace the pool with pickleball courts. Why tear down what you already have to spend more money?
She suggested paying the school money to keep their indoor pool open in the summer for the community to use instead. That is not where I want to go on a 90° day in July! Why not go to the school to play pickleball instead and save that money to put towards the pool? Or offer both!?
The pool has been an important place for our community to enjoy and gather at for years. I and my siblings went there almost every day in the summer as children, it's where we learned how to swim, and I still go and take my niece with me to enjoy the hot summer afternoons every year! It is such a nice facility to have, and I say that the tax money is worth it. Can't spare the burden? Allocate your funds differently, ask for a grant or two, advertise the hours better, put something outside of the pool that does generate funds! Figure something out! We have to try to keep it!
Please sign this petition to show the Foley city council that WE WANT TO KEEP OUR POOL!!!!
Don't let this be taken away from our community!
