We just concluded a meeting with Evergreen on Tuesday afternoon. They say, “the preferred option is to get the pool open”. That’s a great start, but it’s going to take work, and funding to make that happen.

Funding is going to have to come from our community as well as our government institutions. And we need it soon, because the pool is closing next month, and when it opens back up is dependent on how quickly and how much funding it receives. Additionally, many funding sources require matching funds. The more donations we can get and the more pledged funds from local jurisdictions, the more we can receive from grants.

To help with funding and partners, we are now officially part of PARC, a local parks, arts and recreation nonprofit. Our alignment leverages their immense non-profit capabilities!

We will eventually get set-up with an online interface, but right now we able to collect checks through PARC by mailing them to PARC Foundation of Thurston County, 120 State Ave NE, #1463, Olympia, WA 98501. Please make the checks out to “PARC”, but make sure to include “Evergreen State College Pool Fund” on the memo line.

We have been meeting with lots of government agencies, including Washington State Parks and the Port of Olympia. We have more meetings scheduled as well.

The work that you all have been doing is really making a difference. Please keep emailing your cities, representatives, and commissioners. They are listening!
