Keep Sydney Fishing

Keep Sydney Fishing
The issue
Our fishing community is threatened once again!
A local swimming group is pushing for a “No Take” or “No Fishing Zone” which covers a total distance of 3.8km and an area just shy of 452,000 square metres.
The area includes south Bungan to North Mona Vale headland, Bongin Bongin Bay (The Basin), Mona Vale Rock Pool and the northern part of Mona Vale beach.
This is a very popular fishing destination for visitors and locals. It’s easy to access, safe and provides great fishing options for both spearfishing and line fishing.
This proposal simply locks fishing out on the basis of “protection” yet the environment is thriving even with recreational fishing and spearfishing.
This is just another example of small groups wanting to ban fishing and we’d love to have your support by signing the petition to keep us enjoying the benefits of catching fish and to show to these “groups” that we will always fight for our rights to go fishing.
