Keep Sidecars at the Isle of Man TT

Keep Sidecars at the Isle of Man TT
The Issue
Petition to Reinstate Sidecar Racing at the Isle of Man TT
We, the undersigned, call on the organisers and officials of the Isle of Man TT to reconsider the decision to remove sidecar racing from the event.
The Isle of Man TT is built on history, tradition, and the courage of all competitors who take part. Sidecar racing has been a respected and iconic part of the TT for decades, attracting dedicated teams, passionate fans, and preserving an important part of motorcycle racing heritage.
The recent concerns surrounding spectator safety are understandable following the serious solo bike incident involving pedestrians. However, it is deeply unfair that sidecar racing is being discriminated against despite the fact that, in sidecar incidents, injuries have largely involved competitors themselves and not members of the public.
Every rider, passenger, marshal, and spectator attending the TT understands the risks associated with road racing. The Isle of Man TT has always been a unique and dangerous event, and those who participate or watch do so with full awareness of those risks.
Removing sidecars would not only damage the history and spirit of the TT, but also punish an entire class of racing that continues to demonstrate professionalism, passion, and commitment to the sport.
We respectfully ask the Isle of Man TT organisers to:
-
Reconsider the cancellation of sidecar racing
-
Work with teams and officials to improve safety measures where necessary
-
Preserve the history and future of sidecars at the TT
-
Listen to the fans, teams, passengers, riders, and wider motorsport community before making a final decision
Sidecars are part of the identity of the Isle of Man TT. Once lost, this historic class may never return.
Save the sidecars. Preserve the tradition. Keep the TT complete.
