Hello All!

First, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your support and signing the petition.  As I'm sure you are aware, the Superintendent's final draft still has a good portion of Sharon Elementary going to South Meck.  There were some surprise additional neighborhoods shifted to South Meck, but overall CMS suggested all students south of Fairview go to SM, regardless of middle school assignment.  As I've said previously, the middle school line can change at anytime, and I'm hearing it will at some point in the near future.  The real advocacy should be for ALL of Sharon to stay at Myers Park, as I believe that was the main goal over middle school assignments.  I do feel Myers Park will not be the same without our students, which is a shame.

The School Board is the only entity that can request a change at this point and that is who you should contact if you are inclined.  We are located in District 5 and Lisa Cline is our representative.  We are being moved to a high school in District 6, represented by Summer Nunn.  We, therefore, cannot even vote for the School Board member representing the high school our children will attend.  It's a frustrating situation.

Regardless of the outcome, I am sure we will all move forward in a positive manner that supports our children in the fullest.  I know I will!  I hope my advocacy has been seen as a positive to support the community, supply important data, and ultimately generate a better final result for our children, even if it is counter to what I hoped.  I'm pleased to hear that juniors will likely to be allowed to stay at their current school, along with some other special accommodations to positively impact current high schoolers.

Expected final vote by the School Board is June 6.
