Le problème

A call for permanent access to the products customers have already paid for
We are ROLI customers, musicians, composers, producers and owners of ROLI hardware and software.

We have invested in ROLI products because we believe in their technology, their instruments and their creative potential.

Many of us have purchased hardware such as the Seaboard RISE, along with software instruments such as Equator 2 and additional Soundpacks.

These are not temporary subscriptions. They are products we have paid for, often as substantial investments in our professional studios and creative workflows.

However, the current dependence on ROLI's online infrastructure, account authentication and software management systems creates a serious concern: what happens to the products we have purchased if ROLI's servers are shut down or become permanently unavailable?

A hardware instrument should not lose essential functionality simply because its manufacturer's servers disappear.

A software instrument should not become unusable because its authentication server is no longer operational.

Purchased sound libraries should not become inaccessible because the proprietary download and management platform has ceased to exist.

We fully understand that maintaining servers, developing software and providing technical support involve ongoing costs. We are not asking ROLI to provide indefinite free development or customer support.

We are asking for something much simpler and more fundamental:

Our requests
Permanent offline activation: Provide a way to authorize legitimately purchased software without requiring periodic contact with ROLI servers.
Standalone installers: Make the complete installers for Equator 2 and all purchased Soundpacks available independently of ROLI Connect.
Preservation of purchased content: Allow customers to download, archive and reinstall all the sound libraries they own.
Software continuity: If ROLI can no longer maintain its online infrastructure, provide an alternative mechanism that allows existing customers to continue using their purchased products.
Open-source or community preservation: If maintaining the software is no longer commercially viable, consider releasing the necessary components, documentation or tools to allow the community to preserve its functionality.
Why this matters
For many musicians, these products are not toys or disposable consumer gadgets.

They are professional instruments, integrated into studios, compositions, live performances and long-term creative workflows.

Some of us have invested thousands in ROLI hardware and software.

We should not have to fear that a business failure, a server shutdown or a change in corporate ownership will turn those investments into unusable equipment.

We are not asking for anything we haven't already paid for. We are asking to retain the ability to use what we own.

ROLI has created innovative instruments that deserve to remain playable, usable and accessible for years to come.

Please give your customers a way to preserve that investment.

Don't let the instruments die when the servers go offline.
