Here’s where we stand…

Mayor Smiley made comments shortly after our petition reached about 300 that he would look into the idea of having block parties and businesses expanding into the streets outside. Since then…nothing.

We will not allow this. I have repeatedly called for Mayor Smiley to meet with me in person to discuss the impacts his changes will have on the festival and the community of downtown Providence, No response. We will not allow this.

Mayor Smiley has an obligation to hear and respond to the citizens of Rhode Island, and his ignorance and silence will not be just brushed aside.

We are asking again for you to share the petition as much as you can. In the coming weeks, we will be organizing an official boycott of PVDFest, as well as possibly organizing our own mini PVDFest in the downtown section of Providence on the same day.
