Keep Principal Tyson Fechter at Tice Creek

The Issue

Our school has lost two beloved principals in one year. We are asking the district to act now to retain Principal Tyson Fechter.

 

We, the undersigned parents, families, and community members of Tice Creek School, call on Superintendent Marie Morgan and the Walnut Creek School District to make every possible effort to retain Mr. Fechter.

 

Mr. Fechter has earned the trust and respect of students, staff, and families through his visible leadership, strong relationships, and commitment to creating a positive, student-centered school culture. His leadership has strengthened our school community and provided stability for our children.

 

His departure - coming one year after another respected principal left - raises serious concerns about leadership stability and principal retention within the district. Losing valued principals in rapid succession disrupts students, destabilizes staff, and erodes trust within the community.

 

We support retaining Mr. Fechter because:

  • He has built strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • He is visible, approachable, and engaged in daily school life.
  • Teachers and staff feel supported under his leadership.
  • Students benefit from consistency and stability in school leadership.
  • Families have confidence in his judgment and leadership.
  • His departure creates unnecessary disruption for students and staff.
  • This is the second loss of a respected principal in a year, raising serious concerns about district leadership and retention practices.
  • The community has not been provided with clear information about efforts made to retain him.
  • Leadership stability is essential to maintaining the strong foundation already built at Tice Creek.

We respectfully call on the district to:

  1. Make every possible effort to retain Principal Tyson Fechter.
  2. Provide transparency about actions taken to retain him.
  3. Address the pattern of principal turnover affecting our school community.
  4. Prioritize leadership stability for students, staff, and families.

Our children benefit from consistency. Our teachers benefit from stable leadership. Our community deserves transparency and accountability.
