Keep Politics Out of Taiwan's ISO Naming / 避免政治因素影響台灣的ISO命名

The Issue

When businesses refer to geographic regions, they often use the ISO naming standard. Unfortunately, politics is playing a role designating the ISO Short Name of Taiwan, as "TAIWAN, PROVINCE OF CHINA." This classification is not only incorrect but also creates needless geographic confusion.

Taiwan is a distinct entity with its own identity, culture, and political framework. To label it as a province of another country denies the reality and the truth of over 23 million Taiwanese citizens. This political naming affects global businesses by adding to misinformation, misrepresentation, and logistic complications.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an esteemed body trusted worldwide for its non-partisan, unbiased standards. Yet, for Taiwan, politics has interfered.  This undermines ISO's integrity and purpose.

As a call to action for ISO: maintain your independence, your impartiality, and do what’s right by acknowledging Taiwan as "Taiwan" without political adornments.

Sign this petition to defend the integrity of geographic naming conventions and demand that Taiwan's ISO Short name reflect geography, not politics.  Let Taiwan be Taiwan, for the sake of global understanding and accuracy.
