Thank You for Standing with PCMS — Our Fight Continues!

First and foremost, thank you to the 1,387 supporters who signed our petition! We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer break and getting plenty of rest and relaxation.

In just over a month, we'll get to see all of our amazing students and staff again—and we're hoping to welcome many new faces to the PCMS family as well.

While the conversation surrounding Proposition 7 and the possibility of closure has created uncertainty, it should not discourage us from continuing this fight. The proposed implementation timeline is for the 2027–2028 school year, which means we still have an entire school year ahead to continue building memories and proving why Park Crest Middle School deserves to remain open.

Most importantly, enrollment matters. If we work together over the next month to increase enrollment for this school year, we give ourselves the strongest possible opportunity to have Proposition 7 removed altogether when the School Board reconvenes in November.

Talk with your friends, neighbors, family members, coworkers, church groups, and social media followers. Share why PCMS is such a special place and why families should consider enrolling their students here. Every conversation matters.

We've already come this far together in our effort to Keep PCMS OPEN. Now, more than ever, we need to spend the next month encouraging enrollment. There isn't a specific number we're trying to reach, but with the thousands of people who have viewed our petition, Reddit posts, and social media campaigns, we know we can inspire many more families to choose Park Crest.

 
PTO Update from the June 18 PFISD School Board Meeting
The PFISD School Board held its regular meeting on June 18. While no final decisions were made, the Board reviewed updated cost-saving options.

After accounting for the closure of four elementary schools, administrative budget reductions, and the formation of a task force to review and optimize high school schedules (this does not necessarily mean block scheduling will be eliminated), the district estimates it will only need to save an additional $1–2 million between 2027 and 2029 to remain within budget. However, additional savings would be required if the district wishes to provide teacher raises.

The Board reviewed two primary options:

Option 1 (approximately $3.8 million in savings) included:

Reduction of up to 11 Assistant Principal positions across middle and high schools
20% reduction to the district athletics budget
20% reduction to the district fine arts budget
Reduction of up to 11 counselor positions across middle and high schools
Elimination of seven Central Office positions
Option 2 (approximately $4.6 million in savings) included:

Closing one middle school
Closing one additional elementary school
Board members continue to have differing opinions about the district's direction. At least one trustee has expressed support for closing Park Crest Middle School, while others favor either not closing any middle schools or considering schools other than Park Crest. One trustee specifically requested that Pflugerville Middle School be evaluated, while others suggested examining additional elementary schools. District staff will return with more information and additional options.

It is important to emphasize that while we are committed to keeping Park Crest open, we do not want another school or community to experience this uncertainty. From the beginning, we have advocated for a fair, transparent, and equitable process that considers high school feeder patterns, student transition plans, and the needs of our most vulnerable students.

Based on our own analysis, we firmly believe Park Crest Middle School is not the best option for district optimization. It remains one of the district's strongest middle schools and is one of the best representations of Pflugerville's diversity. We will continue advocating for our school while encouraging the Board to carefully consider whether closing any secondary campus is truly in the best interest of students and the district's long-term success.

We've Come Too Far to Stop Now
Together, we have demonstrated what a united community can accomplish.

We have:

Gathered nearly 1,400 petition signatures.
Organized and attended rallies outside the Administration Building.
Shared our message across social media and Reddit.
Displayed yard signs and banners throughout the community.
Decorated our vehicles in support of PCMS.
Visited local businesses to spread awareness.
Made our voices heard at School Board meetings.
Now it's time for our next—and perhaps most important—mission: growing enrollment.

Every new student who enrolls strengthens our case for keeping Park Crest Middle School open.

Finally, remember this:

Our Principal, Ms. Brown, is still here.

She did not retire.
She was not discouraged by Proposition 7.
She has not abandoned our school.

She continues to lead with strength, determination, and an unwavering commitment to our students and staff.

Now it's our turn to show the same commitment.
