Hope everyone had a Great Easter.
Just a heads-up: PFISD updated their optimization page with updated financial info in case you missed the email announcement:

The data provided is a more easier visual aide to understand the deficit they will face if the Enrollment numbers continue to decline. Essentially expenses like payroll, utilities, transportation, and daily operations keep going up annually but the enrollment has been declining which is 1 of the ways PFISD receives funding.
The question of "why we are here" circles back to why we are losing families to competing institutions and why are families that move into our District not choosing to enroll.
As a daily routine we wake up, make sure our kiddos are up, everyone gets ready for their day, we either see our children off or drop them off to school and we head off to our day. I along with many others see this as a daily routine and take for granted that our schools will always be there because I'm dropping my child off. Never did I believe I would have to do anything more to ensure my routine would not get broken by a school closing as this was not the challenges we faced during "our times". Relying on population growth to save the school is difficult, given the criticism that families are having fewer children.
One thing we can control is to start spreading the good word about our school, it may be too late to add a child for this school year but transfers do happen for various reasons and families moving in to our District need to hear the positive things about our schools. Here is a link if you know or hear of anyone moving soon and want to send them to PFISD, more specifically PCMS: https://www.pfisd.net/programs/student-affairs/student-transfer-information
There are a few important dates coming up: April 10th is when the ThoughtExchange closes for entries, if you have already entered your thought; please add a new one, you can do so daily but please get creative with new opinions and alternatives. Start reading on our surrounding Districts and what similar challenges they faced and the alternatives that were created, remember these are just the scenarios that an OUTSIDE agency presented to our District, not necessarily the route that will be taken. https://my.thoughtexchange.com/participate/336499412
April 16th is the next School Board Meeting that PCMS is going to attend with as many supporters as possible. We need to be seen and we need to be heard. You can simply show up and hold a sign, or you can speak and voice your opinion!
The May 14th board meeting is when we will hear the final outcome.
Thank you all and we hope to see 1000 signatures by the end of this week.
