Yesterday the PCMS PTO hosted a very insightful meeting to Strategize our next moves, thank you again for hosting and creating the bullet points necessary for all of us to see what we need to do next.
Get your live update on the volunteer needs by visiting the PTO Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ParkCrestPTO
Continue to share your thoughts daily if necessary via the PFISD Thought Exchange-https://my.thoughtexchange.com/participate/336499412
Continue to send our petition out to be signed by family, friends and neighbors. Brookhollow this includes you.
PTO has shared that they are needing volunteers to help with the cost of printing flyers, passing out flyers, creating and planting yard signs and more. Reach out to PTO asap via Facebook to see how you can help.
Officially we are trying to get a Meeting Scheduled with the Board to present creative solutions to our School Closing Proposal #7. The official statement is that no decision has been made yet until the May voting.
We as parents were told: "Your voice is an important part of this process. We are committed to listening carefully to the perspectives of the people who know our schools best—our students, families, and staff."
This is what we are doing by strength in numbers, the Petition, Flyers, Yard Signs, Thought Exchange are just a few.
There is still the bigger issue of alternative options because we are currently fighting to save PCMS but deep down we don't want to see any school closed, however; the reality is that the current state of PFISD finances don't allow for all schools to continue to operate.
Enrollment is one of the few major factors and we as a community have to address that, we can do something, we can help spread the positive word about PFISD and the many reasons why we all chose to be in a Public School vs the alternative. If you are here today signing this petition and exercising your right to be heard then you are being called to action, lets stop giving families a reason to go elsewhere, lets stop talking about the negatives and start creating the positive.
We are fighting to help save a school we all took for granted to a degree and did not know was in danger of closing, lets all think to the future to ensure we do not come back to this very situation again.
PTO needs the creative minds to help draft practical scenarios as an alternative to present to the Board, we need clear proven data to back our proposals and they can help obtain the information and have you be a part of their sessions to decipher the info.
Every parent's time is valued and every one of us can and will be included in whatever small or large capacity possible, it is definitely going to take this Village to come together to make the difference so lets be the type of Role Models that show our kids what the true meaning of a Unified Community is.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” (Googled a quote that empowers me to rise to the occasion).
More to continue after the Spring Break, but rest assured we will not rest on the continued efforts.
