Keep Palm Beach County Fire Rescue service for the town of Jupiter.

Keep Palm Beach County Fire Rescue service for the town of Jupiter.
The Issue
DO THE RESIDENTS OF JUPITER EVEN HAVE A CHOICE?
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has been the fire rescue service provider for the town of Jupiter for 40 years. Along with the exceptional service, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is rated as a class 1 from the insurance service organization. This rating saves businesses and homeowners lots of money on their insurance each year.
Majority of the council (excluding Cameron May) voted to cancel our contract with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and directed the town manager to start the process of creating our own fire rescue department without informing the residents and giving us a choice.
The town will have to now build two new fire stations and spend millions of dollars on fire/EMS equipment along with hiring personnel. The designated land that they are choosing to build on is Cinquez Park and Piatt place. Both areas that were supposed to be preserved as green space/ recreational parks.
A decision of this magnitude should have never been left to only the council members. The residents should have a chance to give their opinion on whether or not they want to lose a premier service provider. This is all in an effort to maybe save some money. There was no proper notice to the public.
By signing this petition you agree that the residents of Jupiter should have an opinion and a choice to keep Palm Beach County Fire Rescue as our emergency service.
