Keep our kids safe; end contracts with lifetouch
The Issue
As concerned parents and community members in the Chesapeake district, we are deeply troubled by reports and concerns surrounding Lifetouch, a company entrusted with entering our schools and photographing our children. Given publicly reported associations involving individuals connected to Jeffrey Epstein, many parents are understandably questioning whether Lifetouch meets the ethical standards we expect from organizations granted access to our students.
Schools must remain environments of safety, trust, and integrity. When a vendor is permitted to photograph students and collect their images and information, families must have full confidence that the organization operates with transparency, accountability, and the highest ethical conduct. Any credible concerns regarding associations or oversight warrant careful review and decisive action.
Chesapeake Public Schools has a responsibility to prioritize student safety and community trust above convenience or longstanding vendor relationships. We respectfully urge the district to reevaluate its contract with Lifetouch and consider alternative photography providers that demonstrate a clear, verifiable commitment to ethical practices, child safety, and community accountability.
By selecting vendors whose standards fully align with the values of our families and district, Chesapeake Public Schools can reaffirm its commitment to protecting students and maintaining the trust of parents and guardians. This action would also set an important example for other school districts in ensuring that all partners entrusted with access to children meet the highest possible standards.
We call upon Chesapeake Public Schools to take prompt and thoughtful action to replace Lifetouch with a photography provider that reflects our community’s expectations for integrity, safety, and responsibility.
